I've only dreamed of scissors and paste before. I would get overwhelmed with ideas and images then could not decide what to do. It became too big in my mind. But no, it is just paper and paste. I would make one small image using one magazine. I could do that and here it is!

Mom, it is lovely!!! I especially love the pieced sunset (sunrise) sky with the bird silhouette. And the use of that painterly horse is a perfect touch. Oh, and I love the blooms in the corner too. It's all very Southwest to me, which makes perfect sense knowing your background.
WONDERFUL! I hope we get to see more ;)
This is very beautiful! I love "cut and paste", but mine always end up looking like a 2nd grade valentine project.
Beautiful! Well done! It has this contemplative, dreamy quality that draws you in. Nice choice of colours and hues - although muted, they do create a feeling of lightness, of something lit from within. For a very first collage ever, hats off, Bobbie! I can't wait to see what you'll come up with this summer - it's going to be hard to close the doors on this pandora's box, isn't it?
To Gina: what's wrong with 2nd grade valentine projects? just call it "Naive Art" and display it proudly!
Sorry to respond so late...I am moved and honored. I especially like the bacground (is it cloth?), and the scale. Debi is right, mixing the watercolored horse brings this serene image to life. I also love the flowers and the blue bird...a serenely perfect Texas afternoon. You did it!!! Let's see some more, compadre!
This is fantastic. I really want to try this myself now I've seen your lovely collage. You've made a great piece of art - are you really sure it's your first - it looks so practised.
Ah...everyone is too kind, but thanks for the encouragement 'cause I need it. The background is not cloth. It is just strips of paper from an advertisement. I didn't have a large piece for the background so I pieced it together like a quilt. The horse was a picture hanging a wall in a decorated room. My scissoring needs practice.
If y'all could only see the actual collage. My glue didn't work very well and failed to stick down the paper plus made lots of wrinkles that I tried to fix with more glue. But definitely there will be another one so I can apply a couple of hints from Debi and more lessons from Neda's blog.
That was a very nice choice for the sky - both in colours and the quilt idea, symbolically and esthetically. I really like it. I went back twice since my first post to look at the details because I like this piece so much. So, yes, it's true that it's not technically perfect, but it is your first "real" try, and that's not what strikes the viewer first. You've managed to express a mood, a message that is uniquely yours, and that's what's beautiful about your artwork. We're all hoping to see more.
Wow-wee, that is awesome. And I like mom, love the sky that you made. Very cool idea.
Keep 'em coming.
