Dreams and Visions

A few years ago I had a couple of "visions". I may have been dreaming, but I don't think I was. I was in a very drowsy state having woken up just before dawn and this is my attempt to show you what I saw in the first vision. The image rotated clockwise, but the animals were running counter-clockwise. I would be most interested in what you make of this dream/vision.

You have described your visions in a suitably astrologial or other worldly layout! Some of the animals looked stripped to their magical essense, and in that respect look like cave paintings. I also notice the different furs of the animals in the centre. I would say that your dreams had a conservationist theme in that the orginal cave paintings were probably drawn by shamans who were trying to increase the animal stock for their hunting. I think you are subconsiously worried about the animals who are used for their fur and as a result are in danger of extinction, and you would like to increase their numbers. Though obviously you are not going to go out and hunt them! But what about that funny little beast in the centre? I think it probably stands for all animal life sripped to its essense.

Bev. The funny little beast in the center is ME :)

I don't know anything about dreams or visions, but I can tell you that the picture is sort of magical to me...I can't stop looking at it. Even though it is steady, it implies so much movement and importance. I am curious to know what everyone else says...this seems important to me. Is this a drawing?

Whoops, sorry Bobbie. But surely it can't be a very flattering likeness! But I can see that if it is you then the circle is a great representation of your experience. I love this, and dream representation is something I have never come across so far in my roamings across blogosphere.

Wow. I am totally intrigued. The image in the center looks like a native woman in a birth giving position. The images on the center circle are more primitive. I would check out a book by Angeles Arrien called Signs of Life. It would be interesting to know the *medicine* for the animals in your wheel. Another book you might check out is Animal Speak by Ted Andrews. When I first looked at this image, it reminded me of the Wheel of Fortune card in the tarot deck. Id be curious to know how you felt when you woke up from what I would call a lucid dream. I had a very intense lucid dream right after my surgery last year, and felt like I was being handed very ancient information to bring to the planet at this time.

I have the same question, Grannie. How did you make this? What medium, etc...

I like it very much. I don't really know much about what dreams mean but I'm equally intrigued by them. I'm never very good at drawing out things from my dreams... I'm really amazed at the detail you've included in yours. I love it.

I have to admit that I photoshopped this mandala. My drawing skills are not up to this level. I used images from gutenburg.org since copyrights have expired on most of their books. I was looking for images which would represent what I "saw".

If you haven't been to gutenburg.org and looked it over you have missed a treat! I have a bunch of old books marked to read.

Hi Bobbie,

This is so cool!! I think people's analyses seem on track ... Perhaps you are in the great wheel of life ... the animals are turning and the texture of life is turning ... with you at the center of course.

It has the feel of something of great worth - you did a fantastic job of representing this!!!

I never heard of hat site ... sounds good.

It's most definitely an ancient and primitive representation of you in a much older state of being. Maybe this is a part of your gentic make up going back to your ancestors in the early stone age when they were very primitive hunter gatherers and they made pictures of the animals they hunted on the walls of caves and on the rocks in the deserts. Clearly it shows your connection to the most basic elements of living, namely that of nature, and you as a basic element of it also. You must see yourself at night, in the dark, by a campfire, under a starry sky, plotting the paths of the moon and the stars, listening to the sounds of the nighttime. Being at one with nature, giving birth to your instincts and prime emotions.

I appreciate (all) your comments. I think that what you have written will help me understand the deeper meaning of this dream/vision.

This reminds me very much of an old children's toy I saw in the Toy Museum in London (I think), a long time ago. It was one of those things you turn with a handle and movement is created. The pictures and colours remind me of it very strongly. I think, but am not sure - that it was connected to a musical box mechanism and when you turned it you had a sort of carousel effect.
My memory is quite unfocussed, as if I can see it in the corner of my eye, so not sure. Maybe your vision was related to some childhood experience and connects to the circle of life?

I remembered the name suddenly - a fantascope, I am sure. I will look it up and see if I can find the animal one I remembered. How exciting!

I was wrong, have a look at this, it is what I was reminded of - interesting, eh? Early animation.

Amazing how you can capture a vision in such great detail. This image is very intriguing...
Everyone interpreted it in so many ways. I really don't know what it expresses and I like to keep it mysterious. Great job!
