Experiment In Gray

This is an experiment making a lotus mandala. It was pretty difficult but I am hoping that it has promise as a template for making a colored mandala. There are a few rough edges, but it has a lot of hand drawing on it. What do you think?

I like it! You are making these by HAND? I thought it was a photoshop program or something. Now I'm a LOT more impressed! I mean, I always thought they were pretty but I thought they were created by clicking a button somewhere.

Gina, it is photoshop, but there is hand drawing in photoshop on it. Sorry to mis-lead.

I remember the instructions you gave Frances for making mandalas, and they looked pretty difficult to me! I had a brief look at a digital art website, but to do it I needed to watch a two hour video, so I just stick to Dumpr and my spheres! So I admire anyone who can do this. It looks a graceful three dimensional shape, and I particularly like the shading on the sphere in the middle.

Very cool. Fabulous shape, so much potential. And I, too, can't wait to see what wonders you will do with it.

I am looking forward to see what else you will do with this, Bobbie. It's a pretty shape and I like the light in the middle. I think you have this mandala making down pat.

I also want to thank you for always leaving such nice comments to my posts. You always take the time and find the energy to. I really appreciate that.

hmmm...im wondering, would you be able to draw the mandala first and then scan it into photoshop? and then colorize it? drawing with a mouse is soooo hard. or we could talk about bezier curves, but im not so good with that either.
i can hardly wait to see what yu do next. you rock my world, bobbie.

and never fear. i intend to continue writing ps tuts.

HI Bobbie,

This is quite striking! Removing the color lets the underlying structure and luminousness shine in a very special way!

I truly think you have done a wonderful job.
