Iceland Stops Commercial Whaling
Public opinion did not stop Iceland from indulging in commercial whaling, but the Japanese market did. These beautiful animals will live another day, but please join the fight to stop commercial whaling worldwide by following the links on this news announcement from hsus.org.

Good to see the environmentalist view on a blog.
I've been keeping off contentious subjects, but I feel strongly about ecological balance and environmental issues in general.
I don't understand how big business even needs to be so destructive nowadays.
Jin has pointed the way to a very interesting site
http://blogactionday.org/gb
which asks bloggers around the blogosphere to talk about the environment on October 15, to raise awareness on the issues.
I haven't signed up yet, but I will this weekend, when I get back from my supposed sabbatical.
Disheartening what's going on. Greenpeace had some horrible article about it last week or two.
Whale we're at it, though, I too want to say Yay for for standing up to your beliefs. Maybe you can make a campaign poster out of the image.
Neda, your suggestion is my command. I changed the picture! I was not satisfied with it as I quickly put it up this morning before I went to work.
Lovely - your version is so evocative
Good for you Bobbie, for getting this in the public's attention. This archaic sort of fishing needs to be stopped now! Let's all get excited about this!
Empathy for animals is a special gift that God gave me. I love animals and for the most part they love me back.
Rima, thanks for the blogactionday link. I'll be making a special post on Oct 15th about environmental issues and probably some photoshop too.
Did you work on the photo with photoshop? Wow, I love it.
Breaks my heart about the sad things that happen to animals. I think God, like you, gave me (and Katlynn too) the special gift with all types of animals too. Sometimes its hard to be this way too. Glad you are taking a stand and not putting up with things like this. Later today I plan on visiting the link in the post.
As soon as I got to your post (very late today, it's almost 1am!), I immediately smiled: BRAVO! Great poster!! You're awesome!
Great that you are using your blog to highlight issues like this. I will certainly go on the link.
